Letter to the Editor, October 4, 2018: Thank You from Meredith McCulloch, 2018 Bedford Citizen of the Year

October 4, 2018

By Meredith McCulloch

Thanks to all for the great honor of naming me Bedford’s 2018 Citizen of the Year. The past week has been splendid. There are so many to thank.

First, I would like to thank those who nominated me for this award, the committee who made the selection, the Bedford Minuteman Company for adding history and dignity to the ceremonies, and the Selectmen for their support. Thanks to acting Town Manager Mike Rosen and the entire Town Manager’s office who, during a period of transition, also organized the wonderful celebrations. Thank you to Congressman Seth Moulton who sent a “Certificate of Special Recognition” from the U.S. Congress.

I would also like to thank the many merchants and organizations in town that contributed to the gift baskets and to the unknown person(s) who organized them beautifully.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the League of Women Voters of Bedford, Bedford Free Public Library, Minuteman Library Network, First Parish in Bedford, and The Bedford Citizen, all of which are organizations that I can recall with pride in my association with them.

Most of all, thank you to the many citizens who contribute routinely in seen and unseen ways to the life of this community. Bedford is fortunate to have so many residents who collectively ensure that our town remains a vibrant and caring community.
