The Bedford High School Girls Varsity soccer team recently volunteered to coach 1st and 2nd-grade girls for a one-hour clinic under the lights at Sabourin Field. The clinic supplemented the ongoing, Saturday intramural soccer program.
The players shared their juggling, dribbling, passing, shooting and receiving skills. “Our philosophy,” said BHS Coach Eric Driscoll, “is to provide participating players with the environment to be taught the fundamental aspects of the game without eliminating the fun and enjoyment of it, which remains the most important element for success.”
In working with the younger players, each girl’s capacity is taken into consideration in order to provide achievable challenges. Driscoll continued, “This guarantees that each player experiences [increased] self-esteem and most importantly, experiences the fun and enjoyment of this game.”
There will be a final scrimmage under the lights at Sabourin Field with the BHS Varsity team serving as referees on Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 pm.
