Bedford Field Hockey has been improving with each week of team practice. Monday was the crowning moment of the young season when both the Varsity and JV teams earned shutout wins over Wayland.
Senior Julia Palazzo was on fire and made the hat trick in the 3-0 win, and now leads all Bedford scorers.

Sophomore goalie Liz Henning was stunning in goal, stopping every shot. This isn’t that surprising because the week before, I personally watched JV coach Lisa Gocht put in some extra time working with Liz on “booting” the ball away from the goal.
Although Liz Henning gets credit for the shutout, she wouldn’t have been able to go it without the multitude of teammates who rotated into defensive positions. Anchoring the defense was Senior Meghan Barnes who cleared many shots that Liz blocked (but that won’t show up on the stats sheet.)
After witnessing the Varsity win, the JV squad decided that a shutout win is a pretty cool thing to do.
Junior goalie Makayla Marrs gets credit for the shutout 1-0 over Wayland JV. The Bucs lone goal was put home by Sophomore Manogna Reddy after a rebound for her first goal of the season.
The Varsity team is now 2-2 going into Friday’s away game at Waltham.
