Hopefuls to make Bedford Girls Varsity Soccer were the first group to take the field on opening tryout day

You gotta get up early if you want to make the BHS Girls Varsity Soccer Team.  They were the first ones to take the field on the opening of “Varsity Tryout Day.

Bedford DPW closed some of the practice fields because of heavy rains, but BHS student/athletes know how to adapt and overcome.

  • 7:00 AM The BHS Girls Soccer Team takes to Sabourin Field in the first of the season workouts.  They have their eyes set on returning to the playoffs.  Their first scrimmage is this Saturday.
  • 8:00 AM Cheerleading took to the back gym to work on their new routines in earnest.  Even I didn’t dare go in and break their concentration.  Fresh off their DCL championship in Winter Cheer., this team is ready for Fall.
  • 8:00 AM Both Boys and Girls Cross Country teams gathered at the track.  This is always a wildcard because both Bedford and their competitors have new faces that sign up every year.
  • 8:30 AM BHS Field Hockey gathered in the back parking lot (I mentioned some fields were closed). Last year’s team just missed the playoffs, and there are a lot of returning varsity you want to make sure that doesn’t happen this year.
  • 9:00 AM Boys Soccer team takes Sabourin Field.  There is a lot of talent on this team, so competition for a starting position should be fierce.  They have a home scrimmage scheduled for this Saturday.

But Jeff, where are the names of the returning players, and what about the captains?

Ummmmm, last year, was last year.  This is tryouts – Bring your A game. Captains need to earn their stripes.

But Jeff, not even an exciting action picture?

Ummmmm, You gotta earn your action shots.  Everyone taking that field has a chance to make varsity.  There are some underclassmen that are going to surprise the Seniors.  I’ll save the action shots for scrimmage day.
