An End-of-Year Poem

December 28, 2017

By Lois Pulliam

The Bedford Citizen’s five years old
and plans on growing older.
And raising funds confirms your fears:
the staff is growing bolder!
Surely, as readers, you can’t go long
without TBC’s headlines
and its stalwart staff is famous
for meeting all its deadlines.
With Elizabeth, Teri, Julie and more,
with volunteer writers/reporters galore,
you’re first to get news about our hometown –
what’s coming up next, or what has burned down?
Local committees?  You’ll know what they did.
Plans for new buildings and how people bid.
Robberies? Sidewalks? New condos or schools?
Without all this info we’d risk being fools!
Just who is Citizen of the Year?
Well, don’t forget that you read it all here.
This paper works hard to collaborate, true,
With boards and committees (some may include you!)
It introduced a Town Calendar, too,
which helps us all to know what, when and who.
Why are they pleading for money you ask?
Because cash is the cow that will help do the task.
Salaries, software, and website ongoing
are needs of the paper so you’re “in the knowing”.

How to do it?  Use Paypal/check/cash
So 2018 won’t be the Year of the Crash.
