The afternoon of Saturday, December 2 is chock-a-block full of community events: Events for kids start the day, there will be a Shop Local event, and caroling on the Common.
The lights will blaze and a Special Visitor from the North Pole is scheduled to make an appearance.

WALKABOUT EVENTS IN BEDFORD CENTER
Tree Lighting – 5 pm
Citizen of the Year John Linz will illuminate Bedford Common’s festive lights at 5 pm on Saturday, December 2, and Engine One will deliver a Very Special Visitor from the North Pole, bringing best wishes for a happy holiday season! Check out Learning Express’s costumed character, and enjoy festive caroling on the Common!
Walkabout and ‘Shop Local Event’ – 4 to 6 pm
The 3rd Annual Bedford Winter Walkabout and Chamber of Commerce “Shop Local” event will take place at the Old Town Hall on South Road and at local participating businesses.
EARLY AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES ~ ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS
Ice Skating – 1:30 to 2:40 pm
The Edge on Hartwell Road is open pm for a FREE public skate, with limited skate rentals available for $3 each.
Let’s Play – 3:30 to 4:15 pm
Kids ages 2 to 7 are welcome at the Lane School Gym to run, jump, tumble and play with Jennifer McGrath and staff. There will be circuit activities, parachute, and indoor play space. There is no fee, but children must be accompanied by an adult
All of these events are sponsored by the Town of Bedford in collaboration with the Bedford Recreation Department, the Economic Development Office, Healthy Bedford, and the Bedford Chamber of Commerce.
