Beginning on October 23 the Bedford Citizen will present a six-part primer on Town Meeting. until November 6, when a real live New England style town meeting will take place at Bedford High School.
The series is prepared by our Town Moderator Cathy Cordes, the person MOST in the know about the whys and wherefores of Town Meeting, and the person who will preside over Special Town Meeting when it begins on November 6.
Whether you are a new resident, have lived in Bedford for many years, or if you’ve moved here from a part of the country where you’ve never experienced open town meeting, you’ll want to read the articles by Moderator Cordes. Written in accessible language, her explanation of TM rules and regulations will give you the guidance you need to be a well prepared and informed participant in what many say is “the purest form of democracy.”
