The weather finally cooperated and the BHS Varsity Softball team was able to play on their home field – “C” field. Nothing like playing a perennial powerhouse Lincoln-Sudbury.
Although Capt. Nicole Kennedy got a single on the very first Bedford at-bat, LS scored the first two runs in the top of the second, sending 7 players to the plate.

LS was ahead 3-1 in the 5th when Bedford started to rally. Sydney Hoiseth started with a patient walk. She was replaced with Bernice Lai as a base runner. Cordy Houck followed up with a brilliantly executed sacrifice bunt. Senior Nicole Kennedy rocked a double to right field, scoring Lai. Megan Beecy was walked, and deliberately kept running to second and was thrown out; however, Kennedy scored on the play, tying the score at 3-3.
The fireworks started in the bottom of the 6th, with Grace Wilson hitting a quick single. Sena Changelian took a pitch off the foot, putting two base runners on for Bedford. Amy Martin was lifted for power pinch hitter Jamie Winn. In true David Ortiz-style, Jamie took the first pitch and launched it deep down the left field line scoring two.
BHS finished the game with a routine grounder to third baseman Sena Changelian who through to first baseman Amy Martin for the win.
