Bedford High’s Varsity Softball had already clinched the DCL Small Softball championship earlier in the week, so Tuesday contest against North Andover was a stress-free non-conference game. The game started with flowers presented to seniors on both squads.
Captains, battery-mates, and seniors Nic Kennedy and Liz Carter got the scoring started in the first inning with a single from Kennedy, who was then knocked home by a triple by Carter.
Both teams required heads up ball play to keep it a low scoring affair.
North Andover was able to tie it up at 3-3 in the 7th inning, sending the game into extra innings.
Walks got North Andover into trouble as they loaded the bases when Nicole Kennedy rocketed a shot to left for the walk-off win 4-3.
