I am continually grateful for the ability and generosity of the many volunteers who contribute to Town governance. This election, I urge your support for one particularly outstanding candidate: Rachel Field, the caucus candidate for Library Trustee.
While Rachel’s resume bowls me over (anthropologist, film-maker, journalist, professor) and her intellect always dazzles me, I primarily value her vision of our Public Library as the inclusionary, adaptive heart of our town. She is committed to the Library reflecting and celebrating Bedford’s diversity, supporting public art projects that inspire and engage us, and incorporating new technologies such as FabLab and Makerspace.
Vitally, Rachel cares not only about the physical facility, the collection, and the staff, but also envisions the Public Library as a critical player in addressing major challenges the public faces, such as information literacy, the opioid crisis, and racial/ethnic/gender discrimination.
Public libraries continue their metamorphosis; Rachel skillfully listens and leads as she supports this process.
Please join me in voting for her on March 11th. Thank you!
