Bedford High School’s girl’s varsity basketball team kept the first quarter close in Monday night’s home game against Westford Academy.
Westford jumped out to an early lead but Bedford fought back and tied it up 8-8 with 3 minutes left in the first quarter.
The team showed quick hands passing and opening the lanes for lay-up. The score stayed close, with the Bucs down 12-14 at the end of the first quarter. Midway through the second quarter, the Gray Ghost got a hot hand and started dropping three-pointers to pull away 26-4 run to close out the half with Westford up 36-19.
Bedford girls continued their shooting doldrums for most of the second half. With the game out of reach for most of the fourth quarter, both coaches ‘sat’ their starters. Players off the bench took full advantage of the playing time and battled ferociously to the cheers of a raucous crowd.
BHS girl’s varsity is currently 4-9 for the season
