Two Bedford fifth graders, Sean Morrison and Miles Herzog, helped power the N.E. Rush U12 soccer team to the championship of the Premier Division of the Massachusetts Premier League (MAPLE), finishing the season with a 7-2 record.
Sean anchored the team’s defense, starting at the center back position where his speed and strong volleys kept their opponents from reaching the net.
Miles was positioned just in front of his schoolmate, starting at the center midfield position where he often led the attack out of the defensive zone and distributed the ball to his attackers.
Along with their teammates from neighboring towns, the Rush led their division in both goals scored (41) and goal differential (+23).
In addition to playing for the Rush, Sean and Miles played together on a Bedford Youth Soccer U12 travel team.
They look forward to playing futsal indoors over the winter andin the spring moving up to the Elite Division where they will face the top teams in the state in the MAPLE league.
