Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds may not be the official creed of the US Postal Service, but postal workers in Bedford have given new meaning to those words over the past 12 months. https://thebedfordcitizen.org/2015/09/bedford-post-office-moves-temporarily-but-will-stay-in-marketplace/
Steven Doherty, Corporate Communications-Greater Boston & Northern New England Districts, confirmed on Friday, September 2 that “A lease action has been signed. The project now moves into our design and build out phase.”
Under the terms of their existing lease, the Post Office held claim to its tenancy in the Bedford Marketplace after space it had occupied for many years was razed in 2015 during the shopping center’s renovation. During the more than 12 months while negotiations for a new lease were underway, the Post Office has occupied a pair of outdoor trailers tucked into a corner of the Marketplace parking lot.
“While we have no dates or timetable,” Doherty continued, “it is safe at this time to expect occupancy no sooner than spring 2017. We look forward to resuming operations inside the building, and removing the temporary trailers, as quickly as circumstances will allow.”
