massportOn Wednesday, October 5th, Hanscom Airfield will be conducting an emergency response drill. The drill is required every three years by the FAA. The purpose of the drill is to test the coordination, communication and response in the event of a major incident at Hanscom Airfield. The airport will remain open throughout the drill.

More than 50 mutual aid and emergency responder agencies will take part in the drill, including Bedford, Lexington, Concord and Lincoln Fire and Police Departments, Hanscom Air Force Base Command, Emerson Hospital, Boston Med Flight, private ambulance companies, FAA, TSA, MEMA, State Police and the FBI. Some agencies will act as responders, some will observe and some will use the drill for training purposes.

The drill is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and go until approximately 1 p.m. The public may witness a large number of emergency vehicles in the area as they play out the scenario.

Massport will put messages on the website and social media sites that there is a drill happening.
