The Men’s Summer Basketball League will dedicate its 2016 season to the memory of Dave Timperio and Jim Harrington. The community is invited to attend a short ceremony at Bedford High School’s outdoor courts on Mudge Way at 7:30 on Thursday, July 14.
Both Timperio and Harrington were deeply involved in Bedford basketball, both as coaches and as participants in the Summer League. According to organizer Michael Dirrane, the elder sons of both men are playing in this year’s League to keep their fathers’ tradition alive.
“The Summer Basketball League is both competitive and friendly,” said Dirrane, “and all the members of our 11 league teams are either Bedford residents or graduates of Bedford High School.”
The Timperio and Harrington families will each receive a plaque during Thursday’s ceremony, and the t-shirts that go to the 2016 championship team will also recognize the season’s dedication.
