Fire Chief David Grunes reports that the Bedford Fire Department battled a Friday afternoon kitchen fire that left one family temporarily displaced.
Firefighters responded to 39 Fayette Road at 4:20 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire that broke out in the kitchen while residents were cooking. Units arrived minutes later and were able to knock the blaze down after about 15 minutes.
There was significant damage to the kitchen, and fire officials estimated the damage at $60,000. Two residents living in the home are staying with relatives, as the home is not yet ready to be re-inhabited.
Fire crews from Lexington and the Hanscom Air Force Base Fire Department assisted Bedford Fire.
