Capping the Liberty Pole at Willson Park
Bedford’s Liberty Pole Capping ceremony has long held the lead in helping to kick off Massachusetts’ Patriot’s Day festivities. The Bedford Minuteman Company has been working hard, contacting area re-enactors to march from Bedford Common to Willson Park on Saturday morning.

There will be road closures in Bedford Center, along Great Road between Bedford Common and Willson Park, including Elm Street, School Avenue, and part of Mudge Way. Traffic will be detoured along Concord Road, Carlisle Road, and North Road to avoid the area around Willson Park. Road closures are scheduled to begin at 10:20 AM and will last until the end of the event around 12 noon. The Bedford Police Department suggests that residents and visitors please plan accordingly.
