I would like to announce my candidacy for the position of Town Moderator, and I ask for your vote at both the Town Caucus on January 12, and at the Town Election on March 12. I am announcing my candidacy now because Moderator Betsey Anderson announced, after fall special town meeting, that she plans to retire at the end of her term.
I admire and respect the example that Betsey Anderson has set as Town Moderator. If I am elected, I will work hard to do as good a job as she has done. Thank you, Betsey, for your many years of service to Bedford.
I have been attending Town Meetings regularly since we moved to Bedford 40 years ago. I believe it is the purest form of democracy available, and I treasure the opportunity to participate in Town Meetings.
My 20-plus years of town government experience – as a Selectman, on Finance and Capital Expenditures Committees, and on the Community Preservation Committee, should serve me well as moderator. I understand how town government works. I know many of you who attend town meeting and who volunteer your time on committees and boards to make our government run smoothly.
Town Meeting is successful because our townspeople attend, join the civil discourse, and conduct business within the laws of the Commonwealth and the Bylaws of the Town. I would be honored to be elected Moderator and
to oversee the running of our meetings.
I ask for your support of my candidacy at the Town Caucus and for your vote on March 12.
Thank you,
Cathy Cordes
Editor’s Note: Bedford’s Tow,n Caucus will meet at 7 pm on Tuesday, January 12 in the Large Group Instruction Room at the John Glenn Middle School
