The presence of both Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (MA-3) and Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-5) at the Middlesex 3 Coalition’s recent annual meeting spoke volumes about the group’s success and it burgeoning importance.

Congressman Moulton encouraged the best possible business-based decisions to improve transportation and the establishment of high-speed rail options as part of a national transportation policy.
Bedford Town Manager Richard Reed, a Middlesex 3 founder, was reelected to another term as President of the Board of Directors.Reed will serve with leaders from companies and educational institutions in the region: John Curran, Billerica Town Manager; John Petrin, Burlington Town Administrator; Paul Cohen, Chelmsford Town Manager; Kevin Murphy, Lowell City Manager; Judy Burke, Middlesex Community College; Mark Reardon, CB Richard Ellis; Pamela Anastasi, Enterprise Bank; Steven Tello, UMass Lowell; Robert Buckley, Riemer & Braunstein; Scott Weiss, The Gutierrez Company; Scott Hartman; Lahey Health; and Michelle Davis, Lowell General.
About Middlesex 3
The Middlesex 3 Coalition was incorporated in 2012 as a collaboration among public and private leaders in Bedford, Billerica and Burlington, towns located along Route 3 in Middlesex County. The group expanded in 2014 to include Chelmsford, Lexington, Lowell, Tewksbury, Tyngsborough, and Westford.
The Coalition seeks to:
- Enhance economic development
- Create and retain jobs
- Increase and diversify the tax base
- Improve the quality of life in the nine Middlesex 3 communities
Citing improvements to regional transportation as a primary goal, the coalition created the Middlesex 3 Transportation Management Association (M3 TMA) in November 2014. The M3 TMA operates shuttles that link the area to Lowell and the terminus of the Red Line at Alewife station in Cambridge. Additional transportation improvements to serve the area are planned.
