Special to The Bedford Citizen

Sunday, October 25  was a day full of fun events to honor and thank those who are serving and have served our country during the LBH Raiders’ annual Military Appreciation Day.  This has been a great day for the LBH family for many years and as years past, this was a day to be proud of.

The day began with a ceremony to honor all of the veterans and active military personnel that keep our country safe.  Escorted by family members representing all branches of the military, the captains of both teams met in the middle of the field for the coin toss.  Players and their Military family member were announced; the National Anthem was beautifully sung by Chloe DeMello; all military family members and their players served as Captain for the day’s games; all LBH players wore camo socks; there was play-by-play announcing, and so much more.  Thank you to the amazing men and women who serve our country.

LBH D Team

The D Team, unfortunately, came up short on the day with a tough 14-6 loss to Billerica.  It was a tough battle with our defense doing everything they could to stop the ball while our offense was trying hard to come up with big plays.  The score going into half was 7-0 and the LBH Raiders came out and played a much better 2nd half.  Even after Billerica put another 7 on the board, the Raiders D Team never quit.  With just a few minutes left on the clock, QB Naylor marched his team down the field with a big catch by Aidan Higson, a great run by Keville and Pompi finished it off with a TD that got the crowds cheering.  Then with just a minute left to play, they forced a turnover and knocked on Billerica’s door again but unfortunately, the clock ran out on them.  It was a great team effort to rally in the end!!!

The D team plays their last regular season game on Sunday, November 1  at Bedford High School’s Sabourin Field, kickoff at 9:30.

LBH E Team

It was another tough week for the Lexington-Bedford-Hanscom (LBH) Raiders E team as they were defeated by the Billerica Cherokees, 32-18.
After Billerica scored their first touchdown, the Raiders battled back with a touchdown by Dylan Higson to tie the game at 6-6.  Billerica scored once again despite strong defensive efforts from Miguel Bannister, Jayce Szatkowski, Peter Kittredge, Noah Myers, Conor Monaghan and Anthony Williams.  Unable to score again, the littlest Raiders went into halftime down 12-6.
The second half had many strong runs by Aden Cook, Aidan Brunner and Alex Carleton.  Aidan Brunner scored two touchdowns in the second half behind the blocking of Ethan Leavitt, Chase Brazee, Xavier Eatmon and Sasha Bailey to keep the game close.  Billerica was a tough opponent and although the Raiders fought hard, they were unable to win the game.

The LBH Raiders E team plays their final game of the 2015 season on Sunday, November 1 against the Lowell Red Raiders, at home in Bedford, kickoff at 8 am.
