On a very cold October morning, the Lexington Bedford Hanscom Raiders D team faced Methuen on the road.  Although, the temps were in the 20s, the D team brought on the heat with a great team effort to shut down the Methuen Rangers for a 12-0 victory.

The game started slowly for the Raiders relying on their defense to deny Methuen repeatedly.  The defensive lines  – Chris Green-Williams, Gemain Blanchette-Payne, Russell LeBert, Aaron Kreiter, Owen Brazee, Justin Liberman, Shamus Miller, Finn Sullivan, Maximus Woolumus, Jacob Gillig and Nelson Crawford played tough D on the line shutting down the Rangers attempts to advance in the first series and AGAIN after a Raiders fumble, the defense stepped up and answered the call.  Chris Woo had a huge tackle for a loss of 3yds.  Ryan Cohen added to the work with a blocked pass on an important 3rd down.  The Linebackers – Aidan Pompi, Richie Fedele, Ryan Cohen, Isayah Bannister and Lucas Vianna played incredibly tough D making big plays in every series. Everyone did their job, it was an awesome team effort!!

Late in the 2nd quarter, the LBH Raiders D Team offense took over with an unstoppable series.  The offensive line was rock solid with Braden Chisolm, Malick Rolland, Michael Sullivan, Chris Woo, Lucas Vianna, Ryan Ferrari and Jackson Kane.  Eric Miles had to sit this game out due to injury and although Miles was missed, Aaron Keville stepped in and played an awesome game!!  Keville and the offense stepped up on every play allowing for a great series of plays as we marched down the field as a unit.  With our fearless QB, James Naylor leading the team, Richie Fedele started it off with a great run to 45yd line.  Then Aidan Pompi took over with two big gains of over 40 yds total.  Aidan Higson joined in with a powerful carry to the 18yd line.  As we were knocking on the door, Keville, Fedele and Cohen all ran the ball and Pomp finished it off with a well-deserved TD to get us on the scoreboard 6-0.  Our special team contributed with a huge punt by Ryan Cohen and a big tackle by Malick Rolland and followed by another one by Aidan Pompi.  First half ended 6-0 Raiders!

The 2nd half began rough with a few penalties going both ways but then the Raiders kicked it up a notch to answer the call.  After a Raiders turnover, Methuen marched down the field at us but the Raiders defense never gave up.  Even as they were 1st and goal ready to tie the game on us, the Raiders held them for 4 unbelievable downs.  Awesome tackles by Sullivan and Cohen added in to the great defensive team effort and DENIED them repeatedly on our 10yd line.  With the Raiders offense all fired up again, Naylor and his offense were unstoppable.  Pompi ran the ball for a great gain to get us moving down the field.  Aaron Keville contributed with another important run.  This time, it was Cohen who stepped up for a very exciting 70yd run for the Raiders 2nd TD.  As the 4th quarter started and Methuen was trying everything to get back in the game, once again, our defense shut them down after 2 series.  Higson shut the door completely with an interception to secure the WIN.

The LBH Raiders D team are now 5-1 for the season and have secured their playoff spot.  They have 2 regular season games left – both home.  On 10/25, the LBH Raiders  will take on Billerica at 9:30 at Lexington High School.  This game is extremely special as we honor our Veterans with our annual Veteran’s Appreciation Day.  All parents, grandparents and family members who have served our country will be announced along with their LBH player.  The Raiders will be wearing camouflage socks to show their thanks to our Veterans.   Please come cheer them on to hopefully another Raiders win.  GO RAIDERS!!
