The Bedford Historical Society’s 2015-16 program season opened with a presentation honoring Bedford High School’s winning 2015 Massachusetts History Day teams. After winning the Massachusetts competition, both teams traveled to the University of Maryland to participate in the  Kenneth E. Behring National History Day competition in June. Otto Altmann and Haroon Bukhari produced a video, Abbie Hoffman: Leading the 60’s Counter Culture Revolution; Rachel Arnold, Nili Ezekiel, Jaqui Hale and Sarah Nosal created a website, Nellie Bly’s Multifaceted Legacy: Leading a Progressive Generation of Journalists and Social Reformers.

Bedford Historical Society programs will continue throughout the year; they are free and the public is cordially invited to attend.  Society President Don Corey reminds residents that it is not necessary to join the Society in order to enjoy its programs.  With the exception of a Society fundraising event to benefit a new historical museum and the Society’s holiday party, all programs will be held in Upper Fellowship Hall at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 The Great Road. Unless otherwise noted, the meetings begin with refreshments at 7:15. At 7:45 the meeting is called to order for announcements and the program.
