The Concord Women’s Chorus (CWC) is holding open rehearsals to begin its 2015-2016 season. CWC is a 60-voice, auditioned ensemble and draws members from twenty Boston-area communities. The chorus is conducted by Artistic Director Jane Ring Frank with Scott Nicholas, pianist.
Regular rehearsals are held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, Concord, MA. The 2015-2016 season begins with open rehearsals on September 8th and September 15th at 9:15 a.m. Auditions for all voice parts will be held at the conclusion of rehearsal on Tuesday, September 15. The audition consists of scales, ear and pitch memory exercises, and sight-reading in order to evaluate musical skills and abilities. A prepared piece is not required, but prior musical experience is expected.
While rooted in classical choral music, we explore a diverse body of repertoire, written expressly for women’s voices. We perform two concerts a year: December 19, 2015, 3:00 p.m., featuring Porpora’s “Magnificat” with string ensemble and Saturday, May 7, 2016, featuring Chilcott’s jazz mass – both concerts presented at Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord.
CWC is a welcoming group of women who enjoy singing and learning excellent, challenging repertoire and performing at the highest level. More information on the chorus can be found at www.concordwomenschorus.org. Interested singers should contact Stephanie Smith, Chorus Manager, at [email protected].
