Special to The Bedford Citizen
Bedford sculptor Ronnie Gould has had a busy season, with a pair of prestigious shows and inclusion in a new book.
Off the Wall, at the Danforth Museum in Framingham
Through August 2, Gould’s prize-winning work can be seen in Off the Wall, at the Danforth Museum, located at 123 Union Ave in Framingham. An annual, juried show, Gould’s work was chosen by Guest Juror and Director Emerita Katherine French. Fighting for Survival, a pair of Raku-fired rhinoceros that appear to be bursting through the wall on which they’re hung, won First Place among the 1,200 artists who submitted works to the show. Gould said, “It was a huge honor to be chosen to exhibit from among the large field of applicants, and then [even more] to be selected as the winner!”
In a concurrent Danforth exhibit, Gould’s sister Ilene Richard’s work is included in Picture This! 2015, the museum’s annual juried exhibition of children’s book illustration.
One Barn, Three Shows, at the Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery in Center Sandwich, N.H.
There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, July 11 for One Barn, Three Shows featuring work by printmaker Anne Garland, painter Rebecca Klementovich, and sculptor Ronnie Gould. Carega said about Gould’s work, “[her] dogs, horses, cows and sheep (only to mention a few of the herd) have their own souls and personalities.” The show closes on July 25.
