Woburn Sportsmen’s Association (WSA), located on the Middlesex Turnpike in Bedford, held their annual Ladies Day on Sunday, June 15. The weather was great with sunny skies and temperature of 75 degrees. 100 women, from their mid-teens to 50 plus,  attended the event, and participated in one of two sessions split between the morning (58) and the afternoon (42).  Attendees came from all over MA, southern NH and even RI.

Ladies Day at WSA is open to the public, and women are invited to come to the club and participate in an introductory shooting program focusing on the use of firearms for recreation and competition. Besides learning about different types of firearms and firearm safety, participants have the opportunity to try their skills at using rifles, shotguns, pistols and bows. WSA’s members provide training, coaching and safety oversight for all activities. A $30fee was charged this year to defray the cost of ammunition and targets.

Ladies Day 2015 was the thirteenth year of the event at WSA, and in each of the last four yearsthe program has drawn 100 or more enthusiastic participants. Comments by some of the women who participated this year were: “This is a fantastic event!”; “This is my fourth time attending.”; “When is the Open House? (August 15, also open to the public); “The instructors were all so great, and I had a fun time.”; “When can I do this again?”

Many of those who attended had never handled or shot a firearm of any sort. All were extremely impressed by the emphasis on safety shown by all the members who coached them.
