Following its highly acclaimed “British Bounty” concert in January, Kammerwerke Double Wind Quintet, Alan Pearlmutter, Conductor, will present Discover America, a concert of music for double wind quintet (a.k.a. dectet) by American composers.  The program will include: Clark McAlister  A Quilting Bee: Four Diversions on American Songs; Chandler Carter Symphony for Winds; Alec Wilder Serenade for Winds; Robert Spittal Consort for Ten Winds.

Kammerwerke (chamber works) features rarely heard original compositions and arrangements of more well-known classical works for ten wind instruments.  The dectet, rather rare in America, combines the intimacy of chamber groups and the power of larger ensembles.  The sound of ten winds resonates with a full panorama of orchestral color, depth and brilliance.

The concert will take place at The First Parish in Bedford Unitarian Universalist, 75 The Great Road, Bedford, Massachusetts.  Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 3:00 p.m.  Tickets: Adults $20; Seniors/Students/FPB attendees $15; 13-18 $10; 12 and under Free, $2 discount with direct mail card and email address.  Advanced reservations at [email protected] or  www.kammerwerke.org . Handicapped Accessible.  This concert is supported, in part, by grants from the Bedford, Chelmsford and Concord Cultural Councils which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
