Former Bedford resident Joan Little Ogg celebrated a milestone birthday with a fabulous party for family and friends last year. In fact the party was so much fun, that she’s throwing another bash on Saturday night, April 18, and this time it’s open to the community.

In collaboration with Scott Hartman, manager of Bedford’s Anthony-Hunt-Hamilton American Legion Post 221, you are invited to enjoy outstanding barbecue prepared by the New England Barbecue Society (NEBS), and then dance the night away —  all the while raising  funds to benefit the Anthony-Hunt-Hamilton American Legion Post 221 and the veterans at the Bedford VA.

Barbecue will be served between 7 and 8 pm when DJ Paul Dipanfilo will start playing danceable oldies, including ‘The Stroll,’ until midnight. Tickets are $20 per person in advance, and $25 at the door. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be shared equally by American Legion Post 221 and the Bedford VA hospital.  To reserve your tickets, call 978-897-9975

To increase the evening’s fundraising potential, Bedford’s Irene Rivet and the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary, a separate entity from Post 221,  have volunteered to help staff the party as well as prepare appetizers and desserts. Andy King of the Bastey Boys barbecue team arranged for the New England Barbecue Society to prepare the barbecue.

Ogg also arranged for door prizes donated by the following individuals and organizations: American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Bedford; Asiana Bistro, Bedford; Bedford House of Roast Beef, Bedford; Burton’s Grille, North Andover; Cafe Luigi, Bedford; Eastern Mountain Sports, Acton; Fire Box American Bar & Grill, Bedford; Flatbread Company, Bedford; Gourmet Baskets.com, Kingston, NH; Linda Little, Billerica; Joan Ogg, Bow, NH; Massage Envy, Billerica, MA; Mary-Ann Quinn, Concord, NH; Nick & Jeanne Raffaelo, Chelmsford, MA; Olympia Sports, Corporate Office; Organix Spa & Salon, Bedford; Papa Gino’s, Bedford; Renzo’s Hair Salon, Bedford; Rod’s Golf Improvement Center, Acton; Stop & Shop, Bedford; The Common Man/Tilton Diner, Tilton, NH; The Great Wall Restaurant, Bedford; and Waxy O’Connor’s Pub & Restaurant, Lexington.

Accorrding to Ogg, “Saturday’s party will not only help raise awareness that our service men and women need our help, but hopefully the funds needed to give to the Anthony-Hunt-Hamilton American Legion Post 221 and the veterans at the Edith Morse Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford.  There will be a full barbecue, dancing with DJ Paul DiPanfilo (www.DJPaul.org), and great door and raffle prizes.”
