First Parish on Bedford Common will host an Operetta Gala with the stars of the operetta Kele Krisztina and soloist Chikány Béla with Lörinc Danyi, leader of the gypsy band with his world famous Rajkó Orchestra on Friday, February 20 at 7:30 pm.
This will be a lavish serving of Hungarian culture and festivity. This concert, part of the 2015 Hungaricum Gala Tour, promises to be extraordinary.
Expect a wonderful cimbalom player (Hungarian hammered dulcimer), enchanted violinists, clarinetist, and bassist, as well as a leading man in tuxedo and a leading lady in high finery. The musianship and theatricality are essentially Hungarian but, for an American audience, it will be an enchanted treat from the days of the Ed Sullivan Show and nighclub showmanship.
While tickets are ordinarily $20 in advance and $25 at the door, a generous impresario has made it possible for UU’s and partner church people to come free or pay-what-you-can. Just tell the ticket-takers that you’re part of our UU/PCC contingent!
First Parish in Bedford is located at 75 The Great Road, on the Common. All facilities are accessible. For questions or more information, contact Rev. John Gibbons at 781-275-7994 or [email protected] .
