The Bedford Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner & Celebration will be held on January 15, 2015 at the Doubletree Bedford Glen Hotel, 6-9 PM. This year’s speaker is Celtics Assistant Coach Walter McCarty. McCarty is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics. McCarty re-joined the Celtics prior to the start of the 2012-13 season as a Community Relations Consultant. McCarty spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Louisville.
McCarty is a native of Evansville, Ind., and was an Indiana All-Star. He played collegiately at the University of Kentucky, where he was part of the Wildcats’ NCAA championship team in 1996. A first round pick of the New York Knicks (19th overall) in 1996, McCarty played for the Knicks, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring after 10 seasons in the NBA and joining Pitino’s staff.
While with the Celtics, McCarty was very active in the team’s community outreach program, earning NBA Hometown Hero of the Month honors in 2001. In 2002, McCarty founded the I Love Music Foundation to promote the positive aspects of music and to support the growth of music for you in the greater Boston area as well as Evansville.
The evening is a great opportunity to network, celebrate Chamber award winners and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Chef Jayson Demarco.
