Middlesex Community College Announces Finalists in Presidential Search

MCC logoMiddlesex Community College Board of Trustees Chairman Royall M. Mack Sr. and the Presidential Search Committee have named four final candidates in the search to replace Carole A. Cowan, who announced her retirement in June after serving 24 years as president.

Chairman Mack said he is “pleased with the exceptional quality of the finalists for the position.  I am grateful for the due diligence of the Presidential Search Committee and look forward to the Middlesex communities meeting the candidates and also having the full Board of Trustees get the opportunity to interview each one and continue the process of selecting the next President of Middlesex Community College.”

The final candidates are:

Tyjaun A. Lee serves as the Vice President for Student Services at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland.  Dr. Lee completed her undergraduate and graduate programs at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis in higher education administration.

James Mabry serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs for Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.  He holds a Ph.D. in U.S. History from Columbia University and a Master of Science degree from The London School of Economics. Dr. Mabry earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University’s School of General Studies and his associate degree from the University of Maryland Overseas Division. He also holds a post-graduate certificate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.

Johnny Moore serves as the interim Vice President for Student and Outreach Services at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  Dr. Moore received his Bachelor of Science degree from Philander Smith College, a Master of Science degree from Arkansas State University and the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Jean A. Wihbey is the Provost for Palm Beach State College’s Palm Beach Gardens campus in Florida.  Dr. Wihbey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairfield University and a Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University. She is a national certified counselor and has a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in Educational Psychology.
