Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Bedford / Dollars for Scholars (CSF) extends a warm invitation to the Bedford Community to attend their 50th Anniversary Reception on November 9, 2014 from 2 – 4 PM in the Great Room at Old Town Hall, 16 South Road, Bedford. Dr. Irving A Fradkin of Fall River, MA and founder of Dollars for Scholars will attend the celebration.
Dr. Fradkin first visited Bedford 50 years ago on October 29, 1964 when he was invited as the keynote speaker at the Bedford High School Associates fall meeting, held in the cafeteria, to explain the goals and purpose of Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation. Since then Dr. Fradkin has made several trips to Bedford, the latest in 2007, and recently said he “continues to hold a soft spot for the wonderful Bedford Community. To have awarded more than $2.0 million to your youth is amazing…”
The Bedford Chapter of Dollars for Scholars was chartered in April 1965. Its purpose is to provide financial scholarships to secondary school graduates who plan to continue their education. Over $2.0 million in scholarships have been awarded through May 2014. These scholarships go to any senior graduating from Bedford High School, or any Bedford or Hanscom Air Force Base student graduating from another secondary school. CSF of Bedford seeks to provide financial assistance to all students who are going on to further education after high school, whether it be college degrees or technical, vocational, or other specialized training.

The historical documents, the listing of over 2600 scholarship recipients since 1965 and a large series of student “thank yous” and as well as a listing of all Board members since 1965 will be available for review.
