Submitted by the Lyceum Committee at First Parish on the Common
Libby Hanna, President of the American Gerbil Society and former Bedford resident, will talk about what led her to become an internationally recognized gerbil expert at the Bedford Lyceum at First Parish on the Common, from 9:30 to 10:50 am on Sunday, October 26.
In her talk, Hanna will reveal secrets of the little-known world of gerbil fanciers, and will,of course, be accompanied by some furry friends.
Hanna’s fascination with gerbils dates from 2002 when her family adopted four aging gerbils at the Middlesex County 4H Fair, to which Hanna returned as a judge in August of this year.
Breeding gerbils and placing them for adoption is among Hanna’s mandates. Her website www.shawsheenrivergerbils.com notes that it is “is committed to improving the situation of gerbils in need.”
Hanna was interviewed by Bill Littlefield for his National Public Radio program, Only a Game, in May, 2013.
