Submitted by the Domestic Violence Services Network
The Domestic Violence Services Network (DVSN) will host its annual Candlelight Vigil at 6 pm on October 29 at Bemis Hall in Lincoln. The vigil will commemorate October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and honor the victims who lost their lives to domestic violence in the past year.
Bedford is one of DVSN’s eleven original coalition communities, joining when the Domestic Violence Services Network was founded as the Domestic Violence Victim Assistance Project (DVVAP) in 1998. Bedford residents currently serving on the DVSN board include David Packer, Judy Liss and Chief Robert Bongiorno of the Bedford Police.
Middlesex County District Attorney Marion Ryan will offer the vigil’s keynote address, speaking on the collateral impact of domestic violence on children who witness violence and on our communities. Candles will be lit in reverence of the lives lost to domestic violence, and an honor guard from Hanscom Air Force Base will join in the ceremony.
While the vigil is a solemn occasion, it is also a night of hope. By publicly standing together, we show the victims in our communities that we believe their stories and support their journeys.
Please join us on October 29th at Bemis Hall, 15 Bedford Rd, Lincoln, MA beginning at 6pm. A gathering with light refreshments will follow.
