At a town-wide party on Friday, September 26, Bedford celebrated both its 2014 Citizen of the Year Alma Pomponi and the Bedford Minuteman Company’s newest leader, Captain Roy Kring.
Citizen of the Year Celebration
Citizen of the Year Alma Pomponi is known well within Bedford’s Dollars for Scholars / Citizens Scholarship Foundation, and this honor brings her contributions to a wider audience. Selectman Margot Fleischman’s remarks touched on Alma’s accomplishments, “For nearly 30 years, Alma has been a Board member of the Bedford CSF Dollars for Scholars chapter, and for the past 24 years, she has coordinated the annual BHS Student Phone-a-thon, raising over $800,000 from the Bedford community that has been awarded to over two thousand deserving graduating seniors.”
