Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
On November 9 and 10, 1938 Nazi hooligans throughout Germany and Austria broke Jewish shop windows, desecrated temples, and sowed the fear that would produce the Holocaust.
Joining with members of the Bedford Jewish Community, all townspeople are invited to gather on Bedford Common at 7 pm on Sunday, November 9, to commemorate Kristallnacht, “the night of broken glass” in this annual commemoration.
In a brief but significant remembrance, the community will light candles in the cold and dark, toll the bell, and pledge never to remain silent in the presence of hatred, bigotry and injustice. Ministers and youth from Temple Shalom Emeth, First Church of Christ Congregational, and First Parish Unitarian Universalist will share readings and songs.
