September 25, 2014

Submitted by the Committee to Re-elect Representative Ken Gordon

Announcement 1State Representative Ken Gordon (D-Bedford) opened his re-election campaign at the Burlington American Legion Wednesday night with a baseball-themed “First Pitch” Event.

Over hot dogs and popcorn, Rep. Gordon listened to residents’ concerns, and discussed his plans to address issues such as transportation and senior independence. He also reported on his many first-term accomplishments, including increased funding for district schools, and his leadership on new laws aimed at assisting mental health patients access care, decrease wait times at Lahey Clinic’s emergency room, and address increasing traffic congestion in the district.

State Senator Mike Barrett introduced Rep. Gordon, touting his ability to effect change in his first term. He remarked, “Bedford gave us a tall order. It wanted us to go out and get permanent funding for reimbursement of the education of the children of military families at Hanscom Air Force Base, and it wanted us to do it in one term. I had my doubts. But Ken Gordon invigorated me with his enthusiasm, and when he explained his plans to me, I realized we could get this done, and we did.”

Selectman Michael Runyan and Burlington resident Rick Parker also spoke at the event, praising Rep. Gordon’s involvement in local activities, and his ability to invoke passion in those previously uninvolved in politics. Runyan pointed out Rep. Gordon’s availability in the district, with monthly office hours both in the community and in the Councils on Aging, as well as his contributions to Burlington’s celebrations on the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Rep. Ken Gordon represents the 21st Middlesex district of Massachusetts, which includes Burlington, Bedford and Wilmington Precinct 3. For more information, visit www.reelectkengordon.com.
