BCA Logo (2)The Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will kick off its fourth year of meetings on September 9 from 7 until 9 pm, in the BCA Space at Old Town Hall, 16 South Road. The evening’s speaker will be David Wells, speaking on “Light, Shadow, Night and Twilight.” Click here to learn more.

The Photo Group offers programs on first and third Tuesdays and guests are always welcome.  Other activities under consideration are courses in fundamentals of digital photography and field trips to be led by Group members.

First Tuesday Meetings

During the first Tuesday meetings, there are speakers and/or are non-competitive image sharing sessions where members’ work is shown and discussed.  Guest “critiquers” from the New England School of Photography and other institutions provide helpful and supportive feedback.   A goal is to culminate the year with a show of members’ work.

Wells is the first of several guest speakers scheduled for the year. Others include

  • A. Cemal Ekin (November 4), recently recognized as a Master Member of the New England Camera Club Council who will speak on black and white photography;
  • Barbara Hitchcock (January 6), curator of the Polaroid Collection;  and
  • Adam Woodworth (March 3), a landscape photographer who will speak on astrophotography.

Third Tuesday Meetings

Third Tuesday meetings deal with more technical (how-to-do-it) issues.  Led by member Dennis Rainville, these sessions will include information on equipment, capture, post-processing, printing, matting, framing, and exhibition.

About the BCA Photo Group: The Photo Group, a program of the Bedford Center for the Arts, is comprised of about 35 photographers from Bedford and nearby communities who gather monthly to learn more about the artistic and technical principles of digital photography.  For more information, see https://bcaphotogroup.wordpress.com or contact Bob Bass at [email protected] or 781-275-5230.
