In a notice from the Bedford Department of Public Works to abutters, residents were notified that the Selectmen recently awarded a contract to ET&L Corp. to reconstruct the roadways on School Way, Elm Street, Foster Road, Rodney Road and Maple Street and the parking area along the east side of Town Hall.
The abutters’ notice continues:
The project also includes replacement of the traffic signals at the intersection of Great Road, Springs Road and South Road as well as installation of a pre-emption traffic signal in front of the Bedford Fire Station. This will allow emergency response vehicles to exit and enter their station safely.
Additional highlights of the project include:
- replacement of drainage structures
- new granite curbing and concrete sidewalks where currently exists
- modified intersection of Elm Street and School Way
- textured crosswalks
- formalized parking along School Way where currently exists
- decorative lighting along Mudge Way and School Way
The project will start the week of July 21, 2014 and will continue through November. We anticipate the traffic signals to be installed and the final paving to be complete next spring. Work hours will be Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, weather dependent. The roadways will remain open to residents, although minor delays around the construction site should be expected.
The Bedford DPW will be overseeing this project. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please contact us at (781) 275-7605. Thank you for your patience during this upcoming project.
What a great project! This is greatly needed. Good job TOB.
