The Cambridge Savings Bank Senior Prom Stroll was held Tuesday, June 3rd on the Town Common. The Class of 2014 gathered before their Senior Prom under a perfect day for pictures and a promenade.
The event was started in 1997 when Maureen Sullivan, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, coaxed 35 couples to begin the tradition of the stroll. It would be the beginning of a town wide community event that now draws from every segment of the community. It has a touch of “Norman Rockwell” as the community gathers to watch the seniors and their dates stroll into the next stage of their life. “This event epitomizes what Bedford is as a community. Families, friends and just people who love to witness this tradition, come out to help celebrate our young people as they move on from BHS” said Sullivan.
The event is sponsored by Cambridge Saving Bank and through their generosity, the Chamber is able to give every student a free DVD of the stroll. DVDS and can be picked up after June 30th at their Bedford location.
Chamber members Carlton & Duran, CPAs, Middlesex Savings Bank, New England Nursery, Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Bedford Children’s Center, Christine Pinney Marketing, Prince St Cafe & Bakery, Callahan Karate, Danielle Beck, Josh Cohen and Jan van Steenwijk, as well as the Bedford Police Department, Bedford DPW and John Gibbons all contributed to the success of the event.
