Most of us are familiar with what it takes to keep our bodies in good shape. Regular exercise, a nutritious diet and routine visits to the doctor can help protect against disease and other health problems. While most people know the ways to keep their physical bodies healthy, not as many know the ways to keep their mental health in check.

May is Mental Health Month and it is a great time for a mental health check-up! Here are some symptoms to watch for:

  • Trouble concentrating
  • Restlessness
  • Lack of interest in things you once enjoyed
  • Feelings of panic and fear
  • Sleeping too much or having trouble sleeping
  • Hopelessness

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms like these, it’s a good idea to take a mental health screening—just like you would do for any other disease. Bedford Youth and Family Services (BYFS) offers an anonymous online screening for a variety of mental health concerns. The screening is available 24/7 at https://www.mentalhealthscreening.org/screening/BYFS  or under the screenings section of the BYFS home page on the Town of Bedford website. Simply choose the appropriate screening based on how you feel and quickly receive educational information and treatment resources if necessary.

Remember: your mental health is just important as your physical health! Visit https://www.mentalhealthscreening.org/screening/BYFS today.
