The Music Committee at the First Parish in Bedford proudly presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. on Fri. June 6th and Sat. June 7th at 7:00pm on both nights. Journey “under the sea” with Ariel and her aquatic friends in this 60-minute musical, based on Disney’s 2008 Broadway production and 1989 Academy Award® winning animated feature film.
The cast features members of the three First Parish Youth Choirs, with approximately 40 participants aged 4-17 led by First Parish Youth Choir Director Janet Welby. “The kids have been working hard and are having a great time preparing for this show, which we began working on back in September. We have some wonderful talent, and the kids’ enthusiasm and dedication is infectious. I guarantee you’ll be humming the songs on the way out!” says Welby.
Adapted from the 2008 Broadway production, Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. contains all of the familiar songs from the 1989 animated film as well as three additional songs from the Broadway show. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above. But first she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking. This Disney-re-imagined tale of Hans Christian Andersen is a family classic.
Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, students and children ages 6 and up. Children ages 5 and under are welcome without charge. Special Little Mermaid – themed gift baskets will be raffled at each performance. Proceeds will benefit First Parish.
