On the Horizon: Bedford Events Through May 4 + Save The Date

You can learn about Families for Justice as Healing or attend the Job Lane Kite Day this Sunday.

Next weekend there is an interfaith Holocaust Memorial Service, the All-School Art Show, the monthly trail walk, the First Church rummage sale, and Reflections in Bloom – a gala party to benefit Emerson Hospital.

Sunday, April 27

  • Andrea James, founder of Families for Justice as Healing, will speak at a special Bedford Lyceum at First Parish. Click this link to learn more.
  • 4th annual Fly a Kite Day at the Job Lane House, 295 North Road from 2-4 p.m. Make and decorate a kite that is guaranteed to fly in the slightest breeze from a kit; cost for materials ($5). Offered by the Friends of the Job Lane House, www.joblanehouse.org, 781-275-3294. Sorry, no house tours that day.

Friday, May 2

  • 20th Annual Bedford Schools Art Show – The Bedford Public Schools K-12 Art Show will display student artwork from Friday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 4th. Hours on Friday are 6 to 9 pm.
  • Interfaith Holocaust Memorial Service at Temple Shalom Emeth in Burlington at 7:30pm. Co-sponsored by several Bedford congregations. There will be two speakers: Joe Hess, a survivor of the Kindertransport, a British government program which rescued 10,000 Jewish children in the late 1930’s, early 1940’s; and Robert Trestan, the regional director of the ADL.  For information email Rabbi Susan Abramson at [email protected].

Saturday, May 3

  • Monthly Trail Walk for May – Join the Bedford Trails Committee on Saturday, May 3, 2014 for an interesting two-hour guided walk through one of the Bedford Conservation Areas.  Wear sturdy shoes; parts of the trail may be muddy.  Partakers should bring water.  Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome when accompanied by an adult.  Participants should gather in the parking lot behind the Bedford Library, 7 Mudge Way at 9:45 a.m. to meet the trail leader and carpool to the trailheads.
  • Annual Rummage Sale at First Church of Christ Congregational – A huge variety of gently-used goods will be available at rock-bottom prices from 9 am until 2 pm.  For more information call 781-275-7951. The suggested donation at the door is $1 benefits the Bedford Food Pantry.
  • 20th Annual Bedford Schools Art Show – The Bedford Public Schools K-12 Art Show will display student artwork from Friday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 4th. Hours on Saturday are 10 am to 4 pm.
