Saturday Seminars in March at New England Nurseries

NE Nurseries logoNew England Nurseries will offer the following seminars from 11 am until noon at the Nursery (unless  otherwise noted.)  The programs are free of charge (except for materials charges for workshops) and questions and discussion are warmly welcomed.

Grow your knowledge with an expert and learn from fellow gardeners. Refreshments will be served and samples and/or door prizes will be offered.

Saturday, March 1 – BACKYARD BIRDING: Attracting birds to your feeder
Tia Pinney, Teacher, Naturalist, Mass Audubon Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary
Explore the pros and cons of bird feeding,  how to attract different birds, when to put up and take down bird houses, year- round vs. seasonal feeding. For beginners and long-time birders.

Saturday, March 8 – MINIATURE GARDENS: A seminar with workshop
Elaine England, workshop leader
Join Elaine for an overview of the current gardening craze and a demonstration of techniques to help create a fairy garden in your own backyard. For those interested, Elaine will conduct a hands-on workshop. Participants will construct their own fairy garden to take home.  Please reserve your space. (Materials will be discounted.)

Saturday, March 15  – TERRARUIMS: A seminar with workshop

These small closed containers are used to grow and display a selection of plants. Properly done they present an independent ecosystem.  Learn about soils, selection of  plants, differences from fairy (miniature) gardens, etc. while you create a beautiful terrarium to take home.  Please reserve your space.  (Materials will be discounted.)

Saturday, March 22 –SPRING PRUNING: Lecture and Demonstration
Joe Camillieri of the Hartney, Greymount Tree Company
Joe returns to continue his demonstration of pruning techniques for the correction of winter damage, spring insect control, and the rejuvenation of overgrown plants. Come and learn from this expert.

Saturday, March 29 – LAWN CARE FOR THE HOMEOWNER
Larry Baldino of the Greenview Corporation
Timing and technique are often vital for successful lawn installation, renovation  and care.  Larry will demystify  the process and introduce new-to-the-market products that will help insure success. Bring all your questions.
