School Committee Approves Revised Tutoring Policy

January 16, 2014

By Meg Weston

School Dept Seal-1At its January 7 meeting, the School Committee revisited its previously discussed revision of the tutoring policy.  Tutoring is defined by the School Committee as “giving private instruction or help to an individual or group for which the teacher receives remuneration other than through the School Committee.”

The policy now reads: “Tutoring for private pay may not be done by a student’s present teacher. Teachers may not use their positions to gain unwarranted privileges for themselves or to give them to anyone else and may not use school resources, including school grounds, or school time to provide tutoring for private pay.”
