Bedford High School’s Chapter of the National Honor Society Welcomes 56 New Members

In a formal yet intimate gathering of family and friends, 56 juniors and 6 seniors were inducted into Bedford High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) on Tuesday evening, January 14.  It was the 58th annual ceremony held at the school.

Hosted by Miranda Skurla, President of the Bedford’s NHS Chapter, and Bedford High School principal Henry Turner, students and family heard remarks reminding the inductees of the importance of the Society’s high standard of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

The inductees were congratulated for exemplifying these principles and representing Bedford High School in an outstanding manner.  Fellow NHS officers Pei-Yun Chu, Maya Biswas, Maria Ren and Michaela Simoneau joined Ms. Skurla and Principal Turner in conferring the awards certificates and pins on the inductees, with Ms. Skurla administering the NHS oath to all new BHS National Honor Society members.

Principal Turner welcomed the opportunity to recognize and reinforce academic achievement in the middle of the year, especially with mid-term exams only a week away.  He acknowledged that this award comes with the responsibility to be a leader, a good scholar and a provider of service to the school and community at large. He also challenged the new inductees to use their limited extra-curricular time wisely and to consider how their efforts can make a difference.
