Peggy Sukoff was selected from three candidates to serve as an interim member of the Bedford Housing Authority. The appointment was made by a joint committee of the Selectman and the Housing Authority. Peggy, who has lived in Bedford for six years, will serve until the next Town election on March 8, 2013, when a permanent member of the board will be elected.
In applying for the position Sukoff said both her work experience and her life experience quality her for the job. She has worked in public schools and in financial services, training at Adelphi University and at Education Management Corporation, where she learned to work effectively in a regulated environment. She noted that her life experience as a single mother and a caregiver to elderly parents “have well prepared me to be an informed and balanced voice for those who the [Bedford Housing Authority] serves.”
