Kim Siebert is leaving her position at The Bedford Citizen in early November. She plans to seek paid work as a writer; she and her husband Hugh MacPhail are also downsizing to prepare for a move closer to Boston.
As a co-founder of The Bedford Citizen, Siebert helped forge the framework of the Citizen, set editorial direction and created a solid focus on town government by covering multiple meetings each week. Her contribution is much appreciated and will be greatly missed.
“The work of building The Citizen has been an experience of a lifetime,” Siebert said. “I have learned a great deal about Bedford and an incredible amount about how town government works—a body of knowledge I wouldn’t otherwise have acquired. “Resident engagement in the issues facing a community is only possible when the public has clear and accurate information,” Siebert added. “Strong local news reporting— which The Citizen strives to provide—is a vital building block in any democracy. I’m sincerely gratified that the people of Bedford have responded so positively to The Citizen and I encourage others to become involved.”
Kim —- With your energy, maybe you should flip around the equation and have Boston move closer to you. In this and so many other volunteering activities you will certainly be missed. Best wishes on your new ventures!! Ron Green

Thank you for your excellent coverage of our town government. I never knew those meetings were as interesting and relevant as when I read their recap in your words! You have made all your readers Bedford Citizens. I think you’re terrific, and I am sure you will have no trouble securing a paid position as a writer. Best wishes to you!
