First Parish Apple Festival

Bedford Common will be transformed into an old-fashioned fall fair when First Parish Church holds its second annual Apple Festival from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, September 28.

The fair is a resurrection of a vintage idea.  “Years ago there were apple orchards throughout Bedford, and in the fall the farmers would come to the Bedford Common to sell their harvest”, says Gene Kalb, one of the festival’s organizers.   “Fall fairs are a tradition throughout New England, and we think it’s a great time to have one in Bedford,”  he went on to say.

Last year Kalb and his team rekindled the original idea of hosting an Apple Festival featuring mouth-watering apple crisp, Bedford Farms ice cream, apple cider, cider donuts, an Apple Bake Sale Table, and of course…apples.  This year the menu will expand to serve a delicious lunch of hearty fall soup, cheese and bread — with a cider donut sundae available for desert.

The second annual Apple Festival will feature live music, pumpkin decorating, kids’ games, crafters, a used book sale and interesting curios.  Admission is free, and it should be a lot of fun
