About 6:25 PM on September 28, Bedford Police officers responded to Shawsheen Road for a report of a large snake in the roadway.

On arrival, officers observed a 4-5 ft Boa Constrictor across the travel lanes of Shawsheen Road. The snake had apparently had been dumped roadside or may have escaped from a nearby residence.

The snake was injured by a passing vehicle and subsequently died.

After consulting with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, a reptile expert was notified and assisted in the removal and storage of the snake.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bedford Police at 781-275-1212.
