Whole Kids FdtnAs part of a first-time nationwide effort for Whole Foods Market and the communities it serves, kids and families from Bedford and surrounding town are joining the company’s Team Members to spend a morning helping at The Food Project in Lincoln.

Volunteers will learn about food systems and help to plant, weed, and harvest fresh vegetables. Food from The Food Project is distributed to local CSA’s and farmers markets as well as donated to local hunger relief programs in and around greater Boston.

At the end of the three hour volunteer effort, families can enjoy a free salad lunch and learn about the healthy eating resources from Whole Kids Foundation.

Communities will join together with Whole Foods Market for these volunteer efforts across the country from September 1 – 14 as part of the grocer’s Kids Day of Service initiative. More than 19,000 people are expected to participate across the country.
